How I got Started on TeacherGram & YouTube

How it all got started!

The teacherGram and teacher Vlogger community has given me so much insight and have helped me so much in many ways. It all got started when I saw Megan from @toocoolformiddle school on YouTube!

About 2 years ago now, during my teaching career we were stationed in Cuba. I started a little instagram account to connect with teachers. Megan suggested to me after creating a YouTube channel that I needed to open an instagram. Little did I know that there were so many teachers out there that loved the same things I did! In addition to being inspired and encouraged every day, I found friends and mentors, and more support than I could ever imagine. I didn’t feel like I just had a grade team, I had a many different people to share my teaching life with.

Teaching is tough. Like… really tough sometimes. The teachergram and YouTube world has brought me appreciate others and encourage others. Hopefully inspire and motivate other teachers like I once was!

I created my YouTube channel @HomeSweetClassroom first because I wanted to share all the things I love talking about… all the teacher stuff! It’s now called Teach Create and Caffeinate. I love being in my classroom and sharing ideas, but also listening to new ideas. YouTube made it possible and fun for me to share it to the world. It also became a teaching diary. I love looking back at the things I did and in my case at different schools and classrooms I spent my days in my Home Sweet Classroom!

My Teachergram @larashomesweetclassroom @teachcreateandcaffeinate_ it was created a little later in the game. I had no idea teachergram communities existed at this point! I had to learn from videos how to use instagram for my niche. It was all very new to me, but it was all so worth it! My teachergram account has been supportive, helpful, encouraging, and motivational. If you are a teacher or in the education profession I highly recommend starting a teachergram account.

Some of my favorites accounts on Instagram that I follow are below! They are talented, creative, motivational, encouraging and have really made an impact on the teaching community.

Megan is an amazing person and teacher. I love her son and all his little cuteness! Her Instagram name is @toocoolformiddleschool. I love how much knowledge she shares on her account and her beliefs. I find her to be so inspiring and motivational to many teachers.

Mayleen is a good friend since starting a YouTube channel and beginning my journey on social media. She is the sweetest person ever! She is also so creative and her art work is so cute! My favorite T-shirt I bought from her etsy shop says “Kiss your Brain!” How cute is that!

Keanna is a wonderful soul! She has so many great ideas and I love her stories on Instagram on her math lessons. She is called @theartofFUNology on Instagram.

I hope this gave you a little insight on how I got started. Take a peak at my journey and how much it changes from year to year. I love this community and being a part of it has been so much fun!
