It’s finally SPRING! I love Spring soooo so much! It is my favorite season of the year for so many reasons. This is an exciting post full of ideas and activities to bring some fun into your classroom. Also, bring some staff sunshine because this time of year teachers can use some of that sunshine! I can’t forget about Women’s History Month too. This is my favorite time of the year to really spend some time focusing on reading books and creating discussions that bring important women figures that changed the world. I have gathered some great ideas and activities just for you!

March Classroom Ideas & Activities

There are so many exciting things about Spring. Not only is it a little closer to Summer, but also the sun is shinny and you can take the students outside for lessons. There are tons of great resources and ideas that are fun and engaging for your classroom. I love incorporating reading, writing, and math activities during St. Patricks day and Spring.

St. Patrick’s Day Books & Writing Activities

If you have seen some of my YouTube videos or Instagram posts, you may have noticed that I love pairing books with lessons and seasonal EVERYTHING! My students always get so excited when they seen new books displayed or a new read aloud choice for the teacher to read.

One of my favorite books is Fionas Luck by Teresa Bataman. This is a charming story about how a clever woman named Fiona tricks the leprechauns into putting a hole in an oak chest so that a steady stream of luck pours forth once again into the Irish air for all to share. I love this story because it demonstrates how she uses her wits and solves a problem. The beautiful water color and rich backgrounds are so enchanting throughout the story. Another St. Patrick’s Day favorite is How to Catch a Leprechaun by Adam Wallace. This story takes you on an adventure to after planning night and day how to trap the leprechaun. Oh the giggles when reading this story to students! This book is inspired to get students to create their own creative traps and think of the process in making a trap that is clever enough to trap the leprechaun. This book pairs so good with STEM challenges, how to writing, creative writing, and much more!

Here are some writing activities from my TpT store that also pair really well with this book and others with St. Patrick’s Day books!

books for Women’s history Month

Celebrate Women’s History Month with these books! During the month of March I use a daily read aloud about a Women in history that impacted history. We discuss 5-10 minutes about how it impacted the world and share thoughts on her life. It is a great way to introduce new figures to students. Click on the images below to explore the books.

Math Activities

By March your students have already mastered most of the grade level skills. At least that is what we strive for our students to have mastered most skills. One thing you can do to incorporate skills that allow them to practice is adding a few seasonal activities that will get them excited about review and fluency.

Here is a fun addition and subtraction fluency up to 20 that your students will LOVE! Get your students moving around with Count the Room or give your students some practice pages they can work on independently. Click on the image below to get the addition and subtraction up to 20 activities.
